The Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid is a comprehensive two-day course designed to equip learners with a thorough understanding of mental health first aid in the workplace.
By the end of the qualification, participants will have increased mental health awareness, developed active listening skills, and gained the ability to assist with mental health risk assessments and workplace policy development.
After completing both sessions, learners will also be able to direct individuals who may be experiencing mental health challenges to appropriate sources of support, such as healthcare professionals or national charities.
The course consists of one compulsory unit with a total qualification time of 14 hours (across 2 days). All contact hours are guided learning, so there is no need for self-study outside of teaching hours, unlike some online courses.
This course is open to individuals aged 18 and over who have an interest in mental health and would like to support colleagues in crisis situations. Although suitable for anyone, it is particularly beneficial for HR professionals and line managers.
Participants will complete a 40-minute multiple-choice exam. To pass, learners must achieve a score of 18 out of 25 or higher.
Successful candidates will be awarded a Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (RQF) e-Certificate.
The Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid covers the importance of mental health and the roles and responsibilities associated with promoting wellbeing in the workplace. Participants will explore a variety of mental health conditions, such as bipolar disorder and anxiety, and will learn when to refer colleagues to voluntary sector organisations for additional support. They will also develop practical skills like active listening and maintaining appropriate eye contact.
This course provides businesses with valuable tools to promote a culture of wellbeing. Participants will learn how to raise awareness of mental health issues across all levels of an organisation, how to implement whistleblower policies, and how to address bullying and harassment effectively.
